Tuna Onigiri
Hand-shaped Japanese rice triangles filled with a light tuna mayo and wrapped in crisp nori. They make a perfect grab-and-go snack or lunchbox addition.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked short-grain rice, warm
- 3 oz canned tuna, drained
- 1 tbsp light mayo
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp scallions, minced
- 2 sheets nori, halved
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Mix the drained tuna with mayo, soy sauce, and scallions in a small bowl.
- Season the warm rice with a pinch of salt and mix gently.
- Wet your hands with water to keep the rice from sticking.
- Press about 1/3 cup of rice into your palm and make a well in the center.
- Spoon a portion of the tuna filling into the well, then fold the rice over to enclose it.
- Shape the rice into a firm triangle.
- Wrap a strip of nori around the base of each onigiri and serve.
